Sheriff Travis Roush graduated from Shoals High School in 1998.
Sheriff Roush joined the Army after high school. He later attended Vincennes University where he earned an Associate's Degree in History. He then attended Indiana State University and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Sheriff Roush began his term as Sheriff on January 1, 2015.
Chief Deputy Anthony J. (Tony) Dant graduated from Loogootee High School. He attended Vincennes University for Law Enforcement.
Chief Deputy Dant has been with the Sheriff's Department since 1985. He started as a patrol deputy under Sheriff David G. Qualkenbush. In 1991, he was appointed as Chief Deputy under Sheriff Paul E. Gee for eight years, and four years under Sheriff David Qualkenbush. Dant was elected Sheriff of Martin County in 2003. On January 1, 2011, he was appointed to Chief Deputy by Sheriff Rob Street.
Chief Deputy Dant was a DARE Instructor for 10 years. He is also an active member of the Indiana Sheriff's Association.
